Northeast India Trip Planner, as a Chrome extension
A free Chrome side panel with short, dated travel notes for the page you have open. It covers Arunachal permits, routes from Guwahati, airport stays, fog cautions and Kamakhya planning. It reads only the page's address and title. There is no account and no sign-up.
What it does
Open the side panel on a page about a permit, a route, a destination or a temple. The panel shows notes for that topic. Each note has the date it was checked and a label for how certain it is. If a detail could not be confirmed, the note says so instead of guessing.
The notes are saved inside the extension, so the panel works without a connection. The current set is dated 27 October 2026.
What it covers today
- Arunachal permits. Some Arunachal Pradesh routes need an Inner Line Permit for Indian visitors. The note points you to the official portal to check the current rules. It does not list fees, because the bundled notes do not confirm them.
- Routes from Guwahati. Notes for Shillong, Kaziranga and Tawang. Shared-taxi departure times are reported locally and can change, so the note gives a planning range, not a timetable.
- Airport-side stays. Notes on where to stay near Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) for early flights and late arrivals.
- Weather and fog. A reminder that fog, rain and snow change travel times, and a pointer to a current forecast for your date.
- Road status. The extension does not check live closures. The note says so and points you to an official local update.
- Kamakhya temple. A short, dated caution card for Kamakhya pages. It points you to the official site, Maa Kamakhya Devalaya (maakamakhya.org), to check current darshan and booking rules. It does not show live darshan availability or book anything.
On airport and Guwahati pages
When the page you open mentions Guwahati or the airport, the side panel adds a short note about Hotel Shiny Grand. The hotel is in Borjhar, about 450 m from Terminal 1 and 1.7 km from Terminal 2, according to the hotel's own figures.
The hotel offers one complimentary one-way airport transfer (pickup or drop) and free breakfast on direct bookings. Ask the hotel to confirm the transfer timing for your booking.
The panel has a WhatsApp button. The message opens with the reference HSG-EXT, and a person at the hotel replies. Nothing is sent until you press the button.
What it does not do
- It does not show prices or compare them with booking websites.
- It does not add anything to booking websites. It reads only the page you choose.
- It does not collect data, run analytics or use tracking.
- It does not send the page's address or title anywhere.
Coming later
- Ferry and shared-taxi notes
- More dated route checks
These are planned. They are not part of the current extension.
Privacy
The extension reads the address and title of the tab you choose, and only after you click "Open travel notes". It matches them on your device to pick a note. Neither value is sent anywhere.
Chrome's local storage keeps the optional endpoint field, which is empty by default. Chrome's session storage keeps the last page match until the browser session ends. Removing the extension or clearing its data deletes both. The full text is in the extension privacy policy.
By default the extension makes no network requests. An advanced field lets you point it at a read-only travel API that you run yourself. If you set one, the extension sends only a topic word such as "permit", never the page's address or title.
