Guwahati International Marathon 2027: Where to Stay for the 7 February Race

The first Guwahati International Marathon is on Sunday 7 February 2027. That is the confirmed part: the Assam Chief Minister announced the date and PTI reported it. Route, start time, registration and entry details are still to come from the organisers, so this page tells you what is fixed, what is not, and how to plan the night before a pre-dawn start in the middle of Guwahati's fog season.

We run a hotel on the airport side of the city, so read the next section knowing where we sit: about 1.7 km from Terminal 2 and 450 m from Terminal 1, on the western edge of Guwahati.

What is confirmed, and what is not

Only the date is on the record today. The distance options, the start and finish areas, the cut-off times and the registration window are all unpublished.

• Confirmed: Sunday 7 February 2027, announced by the state government and reported by PTI.
• Not confirmed: the route, whether the start is in the city centre or on the airport side, whether there is a half marathon or 10K alongside the full distance, and when entries open.

Because of that, treat any page quoting a route or a start time as unverified until the organisers publish one. We update this page when they do, and we show the date of every check.

Why the airport side works for a pre-dawn start

Race mornings in Guwahati start before the city wakes up. If the start area ends up anywhere on the western or airport corridor, staying in Borjhar turns the hardest part of the day — getting to the line — into a five-minute decision instead of a 4 AM taxi hunt.

• Distance: about 1.7 km (roughly 5 minutes by road) from Terminal 2, and about 450 m from Terminal 1.
• Front desk: manned 24 hours, so a 4:30 AM departure is routine and not a negotiation.
• Room rates: from ₹2,500 per night direct, plus 5% tax, with free breakfast on direct bookings and one complimentary one-way airport transfer if you are flying in or out.
• After the race: late checkout up to 2 PM is allowed free, subject to availability, which gives you time for a shower and a meal before travelling. You can also leave larger bags with us free while you travel onwards.

February mornings and fog: what three and a half years of airport reports show

Race day sits inside Guwahati's fog season, and that is worth planning around even though it is a road race and not a flight.

We analysed 63,573 half-hourly weather reports for LGBI Airport from January 2023 to October 2026, published as open data. Across December, January and February, 49.7% of reports showed visibility below 1.5 miles (2.4 km), against 9.8% in the other nine months. Low visibility concentrates between 4 AM and 9 AM, peaking at 6 AM — exactly the window you are driving to the start line.

What it means in practice: if race morning is foggy, add 15 to 20 minutes to any drive you have planned, and do not leave your warm-up to the last kilometre. What it does not mean: fog does not stop road races, and visibility figures are weather observations, not a forecast. Getting to the start line

We will publish the measured drive time from the hotel to the start area the week the route is announced — measured on the road, not estimated from a map. In the meantime, the honest planning rule for Guwahati is this: a start on the airport side is minutes away; a start in the city centre (Paltan Bazar, Dispur, Ulubari side) is 40 to 60 minutes by road, and you should add the fog buffer on top.

If you are flying in for the race

• Book a flight that lands the day before, not the morning of. Fog delays in this season affect arrivals too.
• The airport to hotel transfer is about five minutes, and one complimentary one-way transfer (pickup or drop) is included on direct bookings — choose the leg you want when you book.
• Book the room before the route announcement if you are set on running: February is a busy month in the city, and the fog window makes early arrivals common.
