Northeast India Events Calendar 2026–2027
The events that fill hotel rooms in Guwahati, Shillong and Kohima, in one dated table, running from now into 2027. Every row carries the source it was checked against and a label: Confirmed means an official announcement, a state tourism page or a reported government statement; Expected means it follows a seasonal or lunar pattern and no notice exists yet.
Guwahati is the region's air gateway, and this hotel sits about 1.7 km from Terminal 2, so most of the guides below start with the same question: do you base here and travel out, or stay at the event?

How to plan around these dates
- Book 6–8 weeks out for confirmed events. Shillong and Kohima fill first; Guwahati then becomes the overflow base for both.
- December to mid-February is the fog window at the airport. In our analysis of 63,573 half-hourly airport weather reports (2023–2026), 49.7% of December-to-February reports showed visibility below 1.5 miles (2.4 km), clustered between 4 AM and 9 AM. If you fly in on a festival morning, take an afternoon arrival or a buffer day. The data and method are open and citable: DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23699996.
- Use Guwahati as a base where the road is long. Shillong is 3–4 hours, Kohima 7–9 hours or a short flight to Dimapur, Ziro a full day. An airport-side night before and after the road leg is the cheapest way to stop a travel day turning into a travel night.
- Check the entry rules early for Arunachal (Inner Line Permit) and Nagaland, and the temple rules for Kamakhya in Ambubachi week.

Frequently asked questions
Which dates are actually confirmed?
Guns N' Roses on 17 November 2026, the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival on 20–21 November 2026, Hornbill from 1–10 December 2026, and the Guwahati International Marathon on 7 February 2027. Everything marked expected is a pattern, not an announcement.
Why not just publish the expected dates as facts?
Because Bihu, Ambubachi, Raas and Durga Puja move with the lunar calendar, and the sources disagree by days until an official notice appears. A wrong date costs travellers real money.
How often is this page updated?
Monthly, and immediately when a date is confirmed or changed. Each row keeps its source and check date.
Can I base here and still make a 6 AM Shillong departure?
Yes, and we will pack breakfast if you tell us the night before. You leave from Borjhar, which skips the city traffic on the way out.
