Guns N' Roses in Guwahati: Where to Stay & Get There

Guns N' Roses play Guwahati on Tuesday 17 November 2026, their first show in Northeast India. If you are flying in from Delhi, Kolkata or Bengaluru, two questions matter more than the setlist: where do you sleep, and how do you get across the city and back at night?

We run a hotel near the airport, so we will say the awkward part up front. The venue is on the east side of Guwahati and we are on the west side. This is not a walk-to-the-gig hotel. It is a hotel for fans who want a proper rest after landing and a quiet night before the flight home.

Getting to Guwahati

By air, you land at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI), also called Borjhar Airport. It is on the western edge of the city. Book flights and rooms as soon as you have a ticket. Those are the parts you cannot fix on the day.

By train, Guwahati railway station is in Paltan Bazar, in the middle of the city. From there to Khanapara is about 11.5 km, roughly 30 minutes by road in normal traffic. If you are connecting between the station and the airport, our airport to railway station guide covers the run.

Getting to Khanapara Veterinary Ground and back

From LGBI to the venue is about 30 km, roughly 40 minutes in normal traffic. From our hotel it is about 32 km, roughly 45 minutes (Google Maps, normal traffic). Both cross the city, and crowd traffic will add to the usual drive. We have not seen an official traffic or parking plan for the show, so check BookMyShow and local police advisories nearer the date.

What we would do:

1. Leave earlier than feels necessary. Arriving with time to spare beats arriving at the gate in a panic.
2. Book the ride to the venue in advance if you can.
3. Sort out the ride back before the show starts. After a big outdoor concert, app cabs get scarce and fares can jump. A driver you have already arranged is worth more at midnight than at noon.
4. Keep your phone charged and download the route offline. Signal near a big crowd is unreliable.

Where to stay: city or airport side

There is no perfect answer.

Near the venue or in the city (Paltan Bazar, Pan Bazar and similar areas): you are closer to Khanapara and to restaurants, and the railway station is nearby. The trade-off is traffic and noise around show night, and you still have to get to LGBI for an early flight, which means another cross-city drive.

Near the airport: you land, check in within minutes and rest before the evening. After the show you sleep close to the terminal, which helps if your flight home is early on Wednesday. The trade-off is the long drive to and from Khanapara on concert night.

If you are arriving and leaving by air and want to spend the least energy on logistics outside the show itself, the airport side makes sense. If you want to be able to leave the venue and be in bed fast, stay on the east side.

Staying at Hotel Shiny Grand

Hotel Shiny Grand is in Shyam Nagar, VIP, Borjhar, about 450 m from LGBI Terminal 1 and 1.7 km (around 5 minutes by road) from Terminal 2. It is a 3-star hotel with 35 rooms. The front desk is open 24 hours, so a late or early arrival is normal for us. Wi-Fi and parking are free, and the kitchen is in-house. Guests rate us 4.8/5 on Google.

Normal check-in is 12:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Early check-in is chargeable and depends on availability, so ask before you fly.

Concert-night offer: stay the night of the show and late checkout is free for up to 3 hours. You check out at 2:00 PM instead of 11:00 AM. After a late show you do not need an alarm. Sleep in, have your free breakfast, and leave when you are ready. The one complimentary one-way airport transfer (pickup or drop) then takes you to your flight. It is a pickup or a drop, not both, so decide whether you want it on arrival or on the way out. 5% GST is extra. We do not run rides to Khanapara, so arrange that separately.

A one-day plan: fly in, rest, show, sleep, fly out

Tuesday 17 November

• Morning or early afternoon: land at LGBI. If you booked direct, you can use your one complimentary one-way transfer (pickup or drop) for this pickup or keep it for Wednesday's drop. Drop your bags. Check-in is at 12:00 PM, or ask about early check-in.
• Afternoon: eat, shower and sleep for an hour. A hot, hungry fan at the gate has a worse night than a rested one.
• Early evening: head to Khanapara with a generous buffer. Check your ticket for gate times.
• Night: the show. Have your ride back arranged before you go in.

Wednesday 18 November

• Sleep in, take breakfast, and check out by 2:00 PM with the free late checkout (normally 11:00 AM). Use your complimentary transfer to get to LGBI for your flight.
• If your flight is early, late checkout will not help you, so read our guide to staying near LGBI before an early flight. The airport is minutes away from the hotel.

If you stay an extra day

Wednesday is a fair day to see some of Guwahati before you go.

• Further out, Shillong from the airport or Kaziranga. Both need a full day, so plan them for a day without a flight.
